At West Michigan Academy, our passion is to create lifelong learners with environmental science and character education at the forefront!

One of the unique features of the Academy is our campus. It covers 62 acres of wetlands, forests and prairies – and provides for hands-on study of a variety of ecosystems. Yet, we’re located right in the city of Grand Rapids.

Pre-K and elementary school students are housed in over 20 “learning labs” that provide a separate, creative environment for children to grow, learn and explore. The high school and middle school building includes an extensive computer lab, classrooms with state-of-the-are, interactive “smart boards” and a regulation size gymnasium.

Our class sizes are small, to, averaging 19 students. So, students not only receive quality instruction, they get the one-on-one interaction that every child deserves. Also, by utilizing proven educational practices such as differentiated instruction and accelerated learning, many of our students work successfully with material beyond their traditional grade-level.

For those students who many need it, we even provide an academic acceleration program. This after-school program requires students to spend an additional hour in class where they receive valuable, individual instruction in order to achieve grade-level.

It’s all part of the West Michigan Academy approach. And it’s one more reason why our students are meeting, or exceeding, current state and federal standards.
