WMAES Teacher Hosted at ArtPrize

  • This is a school that helps a child learn different kinds of science. We get the privilege of experiencing 62 beautiful acres of land. I have been here for 11 years and every year I learn something new.

Dorothy Dorney, art teacher at West Michigan Academy of Environmental Science, is being hosted at the Open Concept Gallery in this year’s ArtPrize. The Open Concept Gallery is located in the Trade Center building at 50 Louis St. NW in downtown Grand Rapids. It displays experimental, historical and unique presentations of aesthetic, social, political and environmental issues. The main gallery is one of the most distinctive exhibition spaces in the city.

ArtPrize is an annual art competition held in downtown Grand Rapids, started by Rick DeVos in 2009. The winner of this competition is decided solely by public vote. This year, ArtPrize ends Oct. 10, and the winner of the contest will be announced Oct. 6.
