Summer Sessions
**WMAES students attend all camps listed below for ½ price.** 1. Survival Tech Camp Dates: June 21-24 Campers will learn survival skills and how our ancestors lived off of nature. Make fires, shelters, tools and much more! We will spend the night in the forest on Thursday, June 23rd. Pick up is on Friday, June 24th at noon. 2. Let’s Camp and Canoe! Dates: June 28-July
1 Students will begin the week with some team building experiences on campus, which will lead to a service project at WMAES. On Thursday, June 30th, we hit the road for an adventure to Grayling, MI where we will canoe a stretch of the Manistee River, and camp at a rustic campsite. Students will learn canoe and camping skills, and how to cook over a fire. Pickup is on Friday, July 1st at 2pm. 3. The Wonders of Water Dates: July 11-14 Students will learn all about water, and where it comes from. Get wet and wild, and explore the creatures that call water home! Each day will be a new adventure in water, so prepare to get wet. There will even be an off campus field trip on Thursday, July 14th to Aman Park where we will wade in Sand Creek, and see who lives there. 4. Plants and Animals Safari Dates: July 18-21 Spend the week learning about the plants and animals in Michigan. Catch and make an insect collection to take home. Pick and press leaves and plants for an ID book that is made by YOU! Search the forest for snakes, salamanders, frogs and birds. If we are lucky, we might even catch a glimpse of our local red fox. 5. What’s Cookin’ In Nature? Dates: July 25-28 Take a dash of farm fresh ingredients, a pinch of teamwork, and a smidge of rumbling tummies and what do you get? A week of delicious fun foods! We will be using the mud oven, and also cooking over an open fire. So, bring your appetites and let’s cook! 6. Natural Building Camp Dates: August 1-4 Learn the basics of building with clay, sand and straw, and help us create a thatch roof building at WMAES, and fix up our mud oven. We will get down and dirty, and have a healthy snack each day. Kids, bring your parents and let’s build! 7. Rocket Camp Dates: August 1-4 Three, two, one BLAST OFF! He has been teaching students the basics behind rocket science for many years, and will lead your student on a safe exploration of rockets. Each day campers will make a rocket and blast it off, how fun! |
